Admissions Process and Events

Children running together on the City and Country campus

An education that is intentional, authentic, and inspiring begins with a thoughtful admissions process. At C&C, our team will personally guide you through life on West 13th Street and help you decide if City and Country is the right match for your family.

Steps and Events That Are Required

There are four required elements in our admissions process (five if you’re applying for financial aid):

1. Attend a Campus Tour

Join us to learn how our historically significant program equips children with a modern mindset of agency and innovation. You will experience our campus and classrooms in action, and connect with students and current parents. All tours are in person from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Space is limited, so please register early. Upcoming dates are posted below; click to register. Additional dates are announced as they become available. If the date you select is full, please email admissions@cityandcountry.org to be placed on a waiting list.

All tours run from 9:00–11:00 a.m. If a tour is full, email the admissions team to join the waiting list.

2. Submit Your Application

Use our online system, Ravenna, to complete your application and track your progress. Although applications are due by Monday, December 7, 2026, we encourage you to submit yours early. This enables us all to begin the important connection that is part of the process, and allows you increased flexibility in terms of scheduling events and appointments.

Financial Aid · If You Are Applying

If you are applying for Kindergarten or above, you may also apply for financial aid through Clarity. Decisions are based solely on demonstrated need. 4. Schedule Your Child’s Visit

Give your child a chance to experience City and Country firsthand.

2s - First Grade: Children applying for Groups 2s - first grade will visit on a Saturday. If you are applying for the 2s or 3s, visits will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2027. For applicants to the 4s, Kindergarten, and first grade, your child’s visit will be scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2026. Once you submit your application, please visit Ravenna to select your child’s timeslot.

Second Grade and Older: Children applying for these groups spend a day on campus, actively experiencing C&C along with current students and teachers. This school-day visit offers them a taste of what attending C&C would be like, and we get to know them a bit as well. After you submit your application, a member of the admissions team will reach out to you to schedule this appointment. Visits take place between November 2026 and January 2027.

For All Ages: So that you and your child will know what to expect, details about child visits will be provided as the date approaches.

Steps and Events That Are Optional (But Strongly Encouraged)

These supplemental events are a unique way to engage with our community and program. Although they are not required as part of your application, we strongly encourage you to attend one, two, or all three.

October 28 · 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Open House

Our evening Open House is a unique series of hands-on workshops, led by C&C educators, intentionally designed to offer all of our applicant parents first-hand experience with our program. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a customized menu of activities, geared to your child’s age group, then our eighth graders and current parents will be your guides. Activities include such things as Painting with Primary Colors, Building Literacy in Kindergarten, Shadow Movement in Rhythms for All Ages, Electrical Engineering for Seven-Year-Olds, Timeline of the Civil Rights Era, and more. The evening concludes with a community reception. We hope you’ll join us to experience for yourself what makes the layers of our progressive program engaging and unmistakably effective. Children applying for 6th grade or older are welcome to join.

Please note our Open House is not a traditional tour. For full tours of campus, join one of our many daytime tours.

Block Workshops

Experience our founder’s invention–blocks–through building with them yourself. No other program is like it. Come see firsthand how we use simple wooden blocks to inspire agency, innovation, and collaboration. Designed for applicant parents for the 2s - second grade, these evening workshops are led by Admissions Director Elise Bauer who teaches the block-building course to graduate students at Bank Street College of Education.

Be sure to note: These workshops are for applicant parents (and not children), and because of space limitations we ask that one adult per household attend. Thank you!

Date to be announced

Meet the Grads

One of our most insightful events, Meet the Grads invites families–current and prospective–to hear directly from a panel of C&C alums who are now in high school. Join us in person as our former students reflect on their time at City and Country and how it shaped their academic and personal growth. The discussion is moderated by our Principal, Dr. Frank Patti, and a reception follows, offering an opportunity to connect with families and community members.

Registration will be available when the event date is confirmed.
